Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

(Makes about 12 dozen cookies) |
| 3 cups flour |
1 cup granulated sugar |
| 2 teaspoons baking soda |
4 eggs |
| 2 teaspoons salt |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
| 2 cups solid vegetable shortening |
4 cups rolled oats |
| 2 cups packed light brown sugar |
2 twelve-ounce packages semi-sweet chocolate chips |

Blend flour, soda, and salt in a separate bowl. |

Cream shortening, both sugars, and vanilla. |

Add eggs and beat. |

Add flour mixture and rolled oats. |

Fold in chocolate chips. |

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie
sheet. |

Bake at 350 degrees from 8 to 10 minutes. |

Cool 1 minute on the cookie sheet and then remove to
a wire rack, cool completely, and package. |
