Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

(Makes about 12 dozen cookies)

3 cups flour 1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda 4 eggs
2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups solid vegetable shortening 4 cups rolled oats
2 cups packed light brown sugar 2 twelve-ounce packages semi-sweet chocolate chips
1. Blend flour, soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
2. Cream shortening, both sugars, and vanilla.
3. Add eggs and beat.
4. Add flour mixture and rolled oats.
5. Fold in chocolate chips.
6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
7. Bake at 350 degrees from 8 to 10 minutes.
8. Cool 1 minute on the cookie sheet and then remove to a wire rack, cool completely, and package.
